Mocha

Mocha

Mocha, an abandoned puppy, was adopted by Viki near her house.

It was an ordinary workday, and night had already fallen. Viki, exhausted from the day, made her way home. However, just as she passed by her house, a faint yet urgent barking sound pierced through the darkness, carrying a hint of distress. She stopped in her tracks, listening carefully before following the sound. Eventually, in a corner behind her house, she discovered a tiny puppy curled up in a shivering ball.

The little puppy was no larger than the palm of a hand, huddled against the cold ground with fear and wariness filling its eyes. Its fur was messy, its body trembling slightly, as if the entire unfamiliar world was something to be afraid of. When it saw Viki approaching, it immediately let out sharp barks, trying to drive away this "stranger."

Viki's heart clenched at the sight. Without hesitation, she hurried back home and returned with a few sausages. She crouched down a short distance from the puppy, patiently offering the food. The delicious scent gradually caught the puppy’s attention. It hesitated for a moment, sniffing cautiously before finally sticking out its tiny tongue for a tentative lick. Slowly, its wariness faded, and it began eating the food with growing trust.

Once the puppy finished eating, Viki carefully reached out and gently stroked its tiny head. This time, the puppy did not resist. Instead, it lifted its damp, glistening eyes to look at her, a trace of reliance and trust appearing within them. Viki smiled softly, stood up, and said to the little one in a gentle voice, "If you’re willing to come home with me, I will take you in."

As if it understood her words, the puppy wagged its tiny tail excitedly. With small, eager steps, it followed Viki all the way home—into a place where warmth and love awaited. From that moment on, the little one had a new name: Mocha. A name that came with a family.

To ensure Mocha’s health, Viki later took her to the veterinary clinic for a check-up. The vet informed her that Mocha was less than three months old—a vulnerable age when puppies have weak immune systems and are prone to illness. The vet recommended adding high-energy nutritional paste to her diet as a supplement to help her grow strong and healthy.

From then on, Mocha not only had a loving home but also a devoted owner who cared for her with all her heart. And for Viki, Mocha’s arrival brought an extra touch of warmth and companionship to her life.
